Tore the guts out of a mic that sat on the shelf for 15 years and replaced them with a Microphone-Parts.com kit. It sounds really great and I love the idea of "upcycling" a mic that would be otherwise unused.

I believe this mic, along with the small diaphragm counterpart that came with it, were the first condensers I ever purchased. I used them for a couple years and then they both sat in their original packaging for ~15 years. Not sure why I never sold them, but I'm glad that I hung on to them! Eventually, I'd like to do the same with the SDC, but there are many more projects in line ahead of that one at the moment.
